Advent wreath is a traditional Christmas wreath with four candles symbolizing the light that will illuminate the world with the birth of Christ.
 
 The Christmas wreath was introduced into the Christmas tradition by the Hamburg Lutheran pastor Johann Hinrich Wiechern, who opened an orphanage school in his hometown.
 
 ⠀ On Advent, the children constantly asked the teacher when Christmas would come. So that children could count the days until Christmas, in 1839 Wychern made a wreath from an old wooden wheel, decorated with twenty-four small red and four large white candles. Each morning, one small candle was lit in this wreath, to which a large candle was added on Sundays. In this way, the children were able to watch how the time of Christmas was approaching. Since then, the wreath has become one of the symbols of Advent.
 
 ⠀ Today the Advent wreath is a wreath with four candles.  On the first Advent, the first candle will be lit, after which the candle will be lit every Sunday. So, if on the first Sunday one candle burns on the wreath, then on the second - two, on the third - three, on the last (fourth) Sunday of Advent, all candles will shine with merry lights, announcing the imminent onset of the holiday. On Christmas Eve, all candles light up and burn until they are completely burnt out.
